Fabric Orientation Guide
Railroaded (RR):
- The pattern or design runs horizontally across the width of the fabric (from selvage to selvage).
- When you unroll the fabric, you'll see the top of the pattern at one selvage and the bottom at the opposite selvage.
- This orientation can minimize seams on items like sofas, because you can run the fabric in one continuous piece horizontally.
Up The Roll (UTR):
- Sometimes also called "Regular Run," "Up the Bolt," or simply "Up."
- The pattern runs vertically along the length of the fabric roll.
- When you unroll it, the top of the pattern starts at one end of the roll and the bottom is at the other end.
